Due to issues in the cargo building out of our control, we have had increased difficulties with our telephone system. We have been working with AT & T for a solution but have decided to activate a secondary number as well. This new number 1-844-4AFAC11 (1-844-423-2211) is not dependent on a land-line and auto forwards to the officer on call. We suggest you program this number into your phone in case you are ever in need of immediate assistance.
Daylight Savings Time Ends Tonight!
It’s time to Fall back and adjust our clocks by one hour as Daylight Savings time will come to end this weekend, November 6th. Don’t forget to turn your clocks back one hour when you go to bed Saturday night. Daylight Savings time officially ends at 2:00am, November 6th, Local Standard Time (LST).
Phase I (primary) Vacation Bidding Open
Phase I (Primary) Vacation bidding is currently open and will close on Monday, November 7, 2016 at 0830 local domicile time. Phase I bid awards will be posted no later than November 12, 2016 at 0830 local domicile time. For more information on the 2017 Vacation Bidding process visit our website.
As provided for in Section 4.F. of our Joint Contract, Flight Attendants are compensated in the amount of $25 for drug and alcohol testing. We’ve been receiving questions from Flight Attendants questioning the absence of a DFAP posting following such testing. In researching the missing postings, we are learning that Drug and Alcohol Testing pay will not appear in the DFAP. Instead, it will appear as a separate line item on the Pay Advice the timing for such payment typically occurs in the month following the testing.
Flight Attendants will need to keep track of such testing and, if not paid, will need to initiate a pay claim through payroll if the payment is not received. For additional information please contact your Local Council.
We are getting increased reports of Flight Attendants making unauthorized trades. As a reminder, TRDKEY will help prevent these actions. For our newest line-holders, it is important to make sure you follow the request on the trade posted.
- If it's not posted do not trade unless you have spoken to the Flight Attendant, you are trading with!
- RDO means the trip can be taken. It does not mean you can trade your trip for theirs.
- There are 2 different trade boards, one is for trading trips, one is for dropping trips. Do not confuse the 2 boards!
- Do not process a trade unless you are certain your trade is what is being requested. When in doubt ask your buddy, or call the office prior to processing the trade.
- UAL by phone processes trades for you. There is no back button. There is no reverse. BE CAREFUL!
We are all excited for you to learn how to maximize your line but it's not okay to make unauthorized trades. As a reminder, all trades and Line of Flying transactions are tracked in Unimatic. Once you trade a trip you cannot trade back due to contractual limitations. Our only recourse would be to involve a Supervisor and crew scheduling.
New Occupational Procedures
Management announced this week that beginning, Nov. 2, all flight attendants (except those who are GUM-based) can report an injury incurred during flight or while on layover by calling the injury hotline at 877-924-7563. (The hotline is not currently toll-free from Europe or Asia; though Inflight Safety is working with Corporate Safety to provide a toll-free number for those areas as well). If you are seen by the on-site clinic in ORD, IAH or EWR, clinic personnel will file the initial report for you.
Regardless of how you report the injury, you must also complete an Irregular Operations Report. Time parameters for reporting injuries have not changed from the current information in the eFAOM, and the standardized hotline process will be updated in the eFAOM after the first of the year.
Incentive pay has been loaded into our DFAPs for OCT. As a reminder, you can still look at your DFAP for SEP to double check the calculations. It will show in the OCT DFAP with the pay cert number 41125 INC with the hours you worked based on your SEP DFAP. Tracking of your incentive hours will be visible on the last page of your DFAP moving forward. Incentive rates are paid at an additional 5 dollars per hour regardless of seniority. For September’s flying schedule the maximum hours eligible for incentive pay was 43:20.
